A man from Schaumberg was under arrest after he got caught by the police drunk driving. However, that isn’t the worst of the news. After choosing to drive on the road intoxicated, the man ended up not only hitting three cars, but he also crashed into a Hanover Park police car. He then got out of the vehicle he was in and ran from the police.
Before the arrest, Hanover police were in the process of conducting a traffic stop. According to officials, it was around 9:05 p.m. that Kimani Unseld, 25 came crashing to the patrol car. The incident occurred on the 1500 block of Revere Circle. After crashing into the car, he put it in reverse and sped off. He left the scene injuring one of the officers and striking three other vehicles along the way.
Fortunately, the officer did not sustain any serious injuries.

After the crashes, Unseld made his way to a golf driving range. There he got out of his car and began to run away from the authorities. However, using a police dog, they were able to find Unseld in no time at all.
Officials say that Unseld’s blood alcohol level was double the legal limit in Illinois of .17. The threshold in Illinois is .8.
The young man is facing DUI charges, and a few aggravated and fleeing charges. The charges are mainly for assaulting private security and a community policing volunteer. Currently, his bond is $75.000.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement Wednesday that Unseld’s behavior a demonstration of his disregard of the safety of the general public. Also, his contempt for following the rules. He goes on to say that they will not tolerate the disrespect he had for the officers the night of the incident.
